The Common Area Committee once again judged various community private gardens to determine this year's winners. The criteria were the same as before –- neatness, plant choice, and overall appeal. None of us have large gardening spaces, and the clay/rock fill dirt from the builders creates major challenges. Even so, many residents have applied considerable ingenuity to limited space and put in ongoing maintenance hours to produce lovely results. This year we had four winners and one honorable mention.
Congratulations to all winners! It was very encouraging to see how many residents have improved their garden spaces compared to last year. It makes the whole community more appealing.
First winner is 281 Cameron Station Boulevard. This condo front garden is very small yet bursting with spirited color. It was the most-nominated garden of this year's contest.

The next winner is 335 Helmuth Lane. This garden is very shady and makes wise use of shade-loving plants with contrasting colors and textures. The hardscape path adds serene Asian flair.

5228 Tancreti Lane is well known by its neighbors for the immaculate turf, attractive stone terrace, well-chosen perennials, bright annuals, and irrigation system to keep it all flourishing.

5159 Brawner uses absolutely every available inch for in-ground plants or containers, both front and rear.

Honorable Mention goes to 472 Ferdinand Day Drive, an end townhouse. Again, every possible space front and rear is bright and imaginative.
