If there is a fire in or near your home tonight, do you, and your family, and your neighbors know what to do? That is the question a group of Carlton Place Condominiums residents wanted to answer earlier this last month, when we met with the Alexandria Fire Department’s Community Outreach Coordinator.
Firefighter Leslie Palucho joined us for a couple of evening sessions where she shared information about resources available in our community; various aspects of fire safety; and what to do if there is a fire in our home or building. Over the two sessions, 45 neighbors received lifesaving information, had lots of questions answered, and got to know one another a little better.
If you are interested in learning more and possibly coordinating similar sessions for your family and neighbors, you can contact Bill Metheny (wpmetheny@icloud.com) or Firefighter Palucho (leslie.palucho@alexandriava.gov).

Bill Metheny and his wife Lori have enjoyed living in Cameron Station since 2014 when friends told them about this great neighborhood. After renting for a couple of years, they committed and moved into Carlton Place Condominiums. Bill, Lori and their family moved around the world with the military before settling in Northern Virginia. Bill and Lori love our neighborhood and the many activities the area offers. They especially like biking with friends locally, around the US, and occasionally in other countries.
