In mid-March, our Wednesday evening Button Giveaway at the Van Dorn Metro station was a smashing success!  We gave away nearly 300 buttons in support of our federal government workers in less than an hour.

It may have been the pleasantly warm evening that gave people the chance to leisurely stop and take a button, but nearly everyone who walked by eagerly took one. Some came back and asked for buttons to give their team. Many said thank you. A fair number stopped to talk and share their stories.

When we had given out our very last one, down to the ones pinned on our sweaters, we packed up and went home with those stories running through our heads. I wish I could share all of them with you, but they are not my stories to tell.

We raised enough money to purchase 1,550 buttons.  We still have 600 left to give out. We are debating going into DC to give them out, although honestly we could easily give them out at our three local Metro stations.  Please feel free to email me (sabirchler@gmail.comwith any ideas on where you would like to see them given out, including any events you may know about.

I would love to raise enough money for 2,000 more buttons.  If you know of anyone who would like to donate, please share my email. A big thanks for your continuing support and interest.
