Property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the driveway serving their home, the lead walkway (including steps) to their home and for clearing any sidewalks fronting and bordering their home. The condo associations will clear the sidewalks fronting and bordering the condos. Condo owners will still be responsible for clearing their lead walkways (including steps) and their driveways. The Cameron Club walkways, steps and wheelchair ramp will be handled by the Association.

All private streets and private parking areas will be plowed by the Association. The following streets will be plowed by the City of Alexandria: Brenman Park Drive, Cameron Station Blvd, Ferdinand Day Drive, and Somervelle Street.

Snow Removal and Inclement Weather Rules and Regulations

The blizzards in winter 2009-2010 presented significant snow removal issues never before experienced by the community because Cameron Station had not previously seen a snowstorm of such magnitude. Working with the Common Area Committee (CAC) and CSCA Management, the Board of Directors drafted and approved Policy Resolution No. 2010-04, Snow Removal an Inclement Weather Rules and Regulations. The purpose of the Resolution was to establish rules and procedures for snow removal by Owners and residents, and an inclement weather policy relating to the closing or late opening of the facilities.

That Resolution was replaced by Snow Removal Policy 2014-02You will find excerpts from the Policy below.

* Owners and residents are required to clear snow and ice from the driveways serving their home, the lead walkway to the residence and any sidewalks fronting or bordering the home no later than 24 hours after each snow event.

* Owners and residents shall not throw snow or ice onto the Association’s roadways after the roadways have been cleared of snow for emergency vehicle access.

* Owners and residents shall not throw snow onto the Association’s roadways in a manner that impedes vehicular traffic.

* Owners and residents shall not throw snow or ice onto adjacent neighbors’ sidewalks or driveways.

The City of Alexandria enforces the same 24-hour requirement. In February 2010, the City of Alexandria issued Cameron Station a citation for not removing snow from the walkways under its control, including many of those serving private residences. To assist residents with this time-sensitive requirement, each year, Management develops a list of individuals/contractors willing to complete snow removal. CSCA Residents may contact these individuals/contractors directly to arrange snow removal and negotiate a price.

This policy also provides specific language by which the Board of Directors or Management staff may make a determination on the closure or modified schedule of the facilities and/or cancellation of events. The Board and Management will make every effort to publish notification of cancellations, modifications, and/or closures on the Association's website. We will work to notify residents through the Association's various communication methods, such as email blasts, etc.

The resolution also allows the Board of Directors or Management staff the discretion to determine that a snowfall affecting the Association is sufficient in quantity and severity that it is necessary to designate certain visitor parking spaces for use as snow collection locations. The Association's snow removal contractor may use these spaces as a place to deposit snow during snow plowing efforts. The Board of Directors and Management staff will attempt to publish notification (on the Association's website) advising residents when use of visitor parking spaces will be limited by snow collection.

The Association has the right to tow vehicles in a visitor parking space designated as a location for snow collection. If a vehicle parked in a visitor parking space is in violation of the Association's parking policy, the Association will tow the vehicle offsite at the owner's expense. NOTE: If a vehicle displaying a valid Visitor Parking Pass is in a visitor parking space designated as a location for snow collection, the Association shall first attempt to notify the owner of the vehicle. If the Association must relocate a vehicle that is in compliance with CSCA's Parking Policy and which is parked in a snow collection area, the Association shall be responsible for the associated towing costs. The Association shall provide notification of the need to tow a vehicle which displays a valid visitor parking pass from a visitor parking space by:

• posting notification on the vehicle and/or,

• providing actual notice to the owner of the vehicle telephonically, verbally, or electronically.
