Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Library The Beatley Central Library is the main reference facility of the Alexandria Library. The library offers the largest selection of adult and children’s materials, periodicals and microforms. The audio-visual collection includes books-on-tape, books-on-CD, videos, DVD's and music CDs. In addition, the library provides 22 Internet stations and six word processing stations for free public use. Most of the Internet stations combine Internet and word processing programs.
The 65,000-square-foot building was designed by Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville in association with Michael Graves, Architect. The library opened on January 31, 2000, and was named after Charles E. Beatley, Jr., who served as mayor of Alexandria 1967-1976 and 1979-1985.

Parks and Bike Paths
Ben Brenman Park, at the east end of Cameron Station, features softball, baseball and soccer fields, lake with gazebo and fountains, restrooms, pedestrian bridges, picnic pavilion with grills, pedestrian and bike trails and fenced dog park. A bike and jogging path runs outside the perimeter of the park and extends to Cameron Run Regional Park which features a wave pool, miniature golf course and batting cages.
Armistead Boothe Park, at Cameron Station’s west end, features lighted softball/soccer field, picnic pavilion with grills, restrooms, playground area with play equipment, two tennis courts, tennis/basketball court and pedestrian and bike trails.

The
Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School
The groundbreaking ceremony on May 18, 1999, heralded
the first new school construction in the city in 30
years. The school includes 28 homerooms plus a science
lab, an art room, two music rooms, a media center
equipped with a computer lab and television studio,
a gymnasium, a cafeteria and a stage that is situated
between the two for use by either side, a covered
play area so that children can enjoy recess even in
inclement weather and the adjacent 12-acre Armistead Boothe Park.

Rail Stations
Van Dorn (Blue Line) and Eisenhower (Yellow Line)
and King Street (Blue and Yellow Lines)
Metrorail, with 83 stations, 103 miles of line and a fleet of 764 rail cars, offers service 5:30am to 1am weekdays and
8am to 2am Fri/Sat. Van Dorn and King Streets are the closest stations to Cameron Station.
